Sport
Electrolytes for hiking and trekking. Hydration for long days.
On long tours, duration, temperature, drinking volume and supply situation matter.
When electrolytes become relevant for hiking
For short walks and normal nutrition, water is enough.
An electrolyte strategy becomes more relevant in these situations:
- long tours with several hours of activity
- heat and direct sun exposure
- elevation gain and a heavy pack
- heavy sweating
- sections without easy resupply
Water, sodium and duration
Water remains the basis. During long activity and sweat loss over several hours, sodium can become relevant - not as a medical warning, but as part of hydration planning.
Water replaces fluid, but not sodium loss in a targeted way.
Hydration bladder and neutral taste
Hydration bladders are used for hours. Flavoured drinks can become distracting - both in taste and handling, because flavours and sweeteners can be absorbed by the material.
A neutral formula without flavours, sweeteners or colourants can be more practical for long tours with a hydration bladder.
Not a sports drink, but hydration
Hiking and trekking often require separate food - meals, bars, snacks. OsmoCore® Pure is not designed as an energy drink.
Fluid and energy can be planned separately.
Carbohydrate-electrolyte solutions enhance the absorption of water during physical exercise.
Practical setup
Typical use cases:
Bottle - 1 stick in 400 ml water
Soft flask - suitable for hip belt pockets and lightweight packs
Hydration bladder - neutral formula without flavours, sweeteners or colourants
Plan quantity before long tours. Consider individual tolerance.

Questions about Hiking and Trekking
Do I need electrolytes when hiking?
Not for every short walk. They become more relevant on long tours, in heat, with elevation gain and heavy sweating.
Is water enough when hiking?
Often yes. During long activity and sweat loss, an additional electrolyte strategy can make sense.
Can I put electrolytes into a hydration bladder?
Yes. Products without flavours, sweeteners or colourants are a natural fit for hydration bladder setups because they do not add flavour or colour components.
Is OsmoCore® Pure an energy drink for hikes?
No. OsmoCore® Pure is focused on hydration. Energy on long tours comes from separate food.
Why can electrolytes without flavour be practical for trekking?
They do not flavour the water. On long days, that can matter more than during short sessions.
